Faridkot, March 18
A local court has issued arrest warrants against Punjabi singer-actor Harbhajan Mann in a cheque bounce case.
Mann is facing a case in the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) after a cheque for Rs 4.5 lakh, issued by the singer to a travel agency, bounced due to insufficient funds.
Mann had reportedly issued the cheque for a ticket purchased through Faridkot-based travel agency Anand Forex two years ago. The agency had then filed a case against Mann in a Mohali court. After about one year of the filing of the complaint, the case was shifted to Faridkot in December 2015.
In the past four months, the court of the JMIC, Faridkot, issued three arrest warrants against Mann to secure his presence before the court, but all warrants came back unserved.
Now, the court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants to be served through the Faridkot senior superintendent of police (SSP). The court issued directions to serve these warrants through the SSP before March 30.
