Rajouri, April 4
A notorious burglar escaped from the Rajouri police post on Monday afternoon. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammed Suleman Choudhry after holding a preliminary inquiry, suspended two cops for negligence of duty.
Sources said the burglar, Sunny Sharma, was involved in several thefts, purse-snatching incidents and assault cases. The accused was arrested on March 30 and sent to 10-day police custody by a local court. However, the accused, who was kept at the Rajouri police post, managed to escape when the police post in-charge had gone out of station in connection with another case, said Ajay Singh Chib, Station House Officer.
“Two constables Mohd Shafiq and Rakesh Kumar have been suspended for negligence of duty after the preliminary investigation and strict departmental action will be taken against them,” said the SSP. — OC
