Rajouri, August 11
After a girl broke the love affair due to some domestic restrictions, the lover attempted to kill the girl at a remote Pata Thana village in district on Wednesday.
The boy, Shadad Khan, resident of Bafliaz (Poonch district), but presently living at Kheora, attempted to kill the girl by slitting her throat with a knife at her house.
Sources said the boy was apprehended by villagers immediately after the girl raised an alarm and was handed over to the police and the girl was admitted to a hospital at Darhal.
The police have booked the boy under Section 307 of the RPC (attempt to murder) and started investigation. The condition of the victim is stable and she is out of danger, said the SHO, Darhal.
He said the victim was not in a position to record her statement, but on her parent’s complaint the boy had been booked in an attempt to murder case and arrested.
The victim is a first-year student at Government Post Graduate College at Rajouri and was in a relationship with the accused. On Wednesday, the girl called the accused at her residence and told him that her parents had fixed her marriage with the son of her maternal uncle. Annoyed, the accused first attempted to slit her throat with a knife and then tried to drown her by pushing her face in a water tub, said hospital sources. — OC
