Doctor caught holding sex test
Jalandhar, April 22
A team of the Health Department raided Suri Scanning Centre at Balachaur (Nawanshahr) today. The team of officials from Chandigarh, along with NGO Speed Network, caught Dr Bhushan Lal accepting Rs 20,000 for conducting a sex determination test. The owner and other staff of the centre fled from the spot.
The team, led by Dr Maninder Minhas, Civil Surgeon, Nawanshahr, sealed the centre. Balachaur DSP Digvijay Kapil said, “An FIR has been registered against five persons under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act. They have been identified as centre owner Ujjagar Singh Suri, Dr Bhushan Lal, Dr Sunita, Dr Sandeep and Dr Gurinder Bagga.” — TNS
