ED raid on ‘heeng’ trader uncovers Rs 59.5 lakh

In its ongoing raids post demonetisation, the Enforcement Directorate today conducted a search on the premises of a “heeng” trader at Kitchlu Nagar in Ludhiana and recovered Rs 58 lakh in Indian currency and Rs 1.5 lakh worth of foreign currency from his possession.

A team of ED officials, including Assistant Directors Gurvinder Kaur and Sanjeev Prabhakar, conducted the search on M/s Seth Jain Bansilal Talwar. The seizure included Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 4 lakh and Rs 100 notes worth Rs 54 lakh. Since foreign currency also has been recovered, the ED will also pursue a FEMA case against the trader. — TNS
