The police have identified 14 more cases where the doctor involved in the “injury-on-order” scam had allegedly helped his clients get false cases registered against their rivals. The doctor, Punjab Singh of Guruharsahai, was arrested on December 31. He has been booked in four cases. The scam was exposed by a special investigating team constituted to probe the death of Joginder Pal in an FIR registered at Guruharsahai.

Hardyal Singh Mann, Senior SSP, said Joginder Pal had approached the doctor who inflicted some injuries on him, following which a case was registered against his rivals. But the fabricated injuries led to infection due to which Joginder died on October 30, 2013, he said. — OC
