Five held for kidnapping property dealer

The City police today arrested five persons for allegedly abducting a property dealer. The kidnappers had badly thrashed the property dealer, who has been admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
SSP Sadanand Datte said Vijendra Pal, a resident of Balawala, informed the police last night that his brother Lalit had been kidnapped. The complainant alleged that Manoj Rawat had called his brother before the latter was kidnapped.
The SSP formed two police teams led by SP, City, Ajay Singh and SP, Rural, GC Dhyani.
The teams kept the mobile phones of suspects on surveillance and conducted checking drives at Balalwala, Bhaniyawala and adjoining localities.
The teams directed a driver to stop but he sped away. Policemen chased the car and arrested all accused. They have been identified as Rahul Rawat, Ram Kumar, Manoj, Prabhat Thapa and Eishank Dimri.
Rahul Rawat had returned home after kidnapping Lalit in a car while the other four accused took him to a forest area in another car. They beat him up badly and even removed his clothes.
The SSP said the accused kidnapped Lalit due to a professional rivalry as the latter was not paying dues to Ram Kumar, another property dealer.
Garhwal IG Sanjay Gunjyal and the SSP have announced a prize of Rs 5,000, and Rs 2,500, respectively, for the two teams.
Teenaged girl crushed under tractor-trailer
A teenaged girl died on the spot while two other persons were injured seriously when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a speeding tractor -trailer here today. The driver of the tractor-trailer escaped from the spot.
Sources said a speeding tractor trolley hit the motorcycle at Khatta Panni, under Nehru Colony police station. The residents rescued and rushed the victims to a government hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Lata (18), daughter of Ramesh Chauhan, a resident of Khatta Panni.
The injured were Ankit Purwal, son of Baisakhu, and Madhu, wife of Shyam Singh.
The body has been sent for an autopsy and the hunt is on for the absconding tractor-trailer driver.
