Former BBMB chief engineer ends life

Nangal, November 12

A former chief engineer of Bhakra Beas Management Board, VK Sharma, committed suicide by jumping into the Nangal dam lake here today. In his suicide note recovered by the police from the spot, Sharma stated that he was ending his life due to a prolonged illness.

DSP SS Dhaliwal said the deceased retired from the BBMB a few months ago and had returned from Delhi with his family for a leisure trip. He was staying at Sulej Sadan, a guest house, and today left from there without informing his family members, Dhaliwal said. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
