The police have booked five persons on charges of fraud in separate cases. In the first case, a case has been registered at the Mehraban police station on a complaint of Ashok Kumar of Jalabad. Those booked in the case are Sona of Jaspal Nagar, Toshi of Ganna Pind Phillaur and Pawan Kumar of Bajra Colony. The complainant has alleged that the suspects had struck a deal with him to sell a house of their mother-in-law. Despite taking Rs 3.5 lakh as advance, they did not come forward to transfer the ownership of the house. A case was registered after an inquiry was conducted by the ADCP 4 into the allegation. Raids are on to nab the suspects.
In another case, a fraud case was registered against Kuldeep Kaur and Prabhu Dyal, residents of Gurdaspur, on a complaint of Sukhjeet Singh of Guru Nanak Nagar. The suspects had duped the complainant of Rs 5.4 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.
Eight booked for endangering life of family
The Dehlon police booked eight persons on charges of endangering life and personal safety of others. A case under section 336 of the IPC has been registered against them. The suspects have been identified as Harpreet Singh, Satwinder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Sandeep Singh, Jagga Singh and Pawanjeet Singh, all residents of Ludhiana. Complainant Kangan Khan of Tibba village told the police that the suspects hurled bottles into his house. Investigation is going on into the case.
250 bags of wheat seed stolen
Thieves struck at a godown of Agro Service Society Limited, Heeran village, and decamped with 250 bags, weighing 40 kg each, of seed. Secretary of the society Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Chehla village, told the police that he had locked the godown on October 26 night and when he came to open the same the next morning, he found the main lock broken and bags of wheat seed missing. A case against unknown person has been registered. —TNS
