Gram sachiv caught taking bribe of Rs 8,000

A Vigilance Bureau team today caught gram sachiv Jitender Kumar while accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a contractor in lieu of releasing payment for construction work.
In his complaint lodged with the Vigilance Bureau, contractor Wazir Singh of Lala Village said he had taken a contract of constructing a street in gram sachiv’s village last year.
The work was completed in August, 2014, but gram sachiv Jitender Kumar was demanding illegal gratification of Rs 8,000 for releasing a cheque for Rs 84,000, he added.
The vigilance team laid a trap and nabbed the accused while taking the bribe. —TNS
