Gurgaon, April 6
After being on the run for nearly a fortnight, the Gurgaon police finally nabbed the key accused in the Palam Vihar shooting, in which a youth died.
Akash Yadav (21) was arrested from near Sultanpur Lake along with his three associates in a Scorpio, late Sunday night.
This is not for the first time, Akash has hit the headlines. Eight years ago he was sent to a juvenile home for allegedly killing his classmate in Gurgaon’s Euro International School. This time, he allegedly shot his friend, Manish Kumar, five times in the chest after an argument. Akash alleged that Manish was plotting to murder him.
After the incident, Akash fled to Rohtak and then went to Himachal Pradesh to evade arrest.
A senior police official said, “Around a-year-and-a-half ago Manish Kumar alias Bihari approached Akash to help him recover around Rs 1.5 lakh from someone. Akash agreed to help him, but was infuriated when he did not get his promised share; this lead to a major fight between the two.”
Akash alleged Manish stopped his car on several occasions with the intention to kill him. He further alleged Manish hatched a murder conspiracy, and was planning to act on it when he (Akash) was to attend a wedding in Manesar. Irate by this, Akash decided to kill him first, the police official said.
Reportedly, Akash planned this murder with his three friend — Manish alias Moga, Ashok alias Mental and Manjit alias Monu. The police also recovered two illegal pistols.
