The Kharar police today booked Chandigarh-based immigration consultant Amit Kakkar and his two employees Sahiba and Ruchi in the case of alleged suicide by a Kharar-based private teacher here.
The teacher, Rajinder Kaur, had allegedly set herself afire a couple of days ago and held the accused responsible in her suicide note.
According to Inspector Kulbir Singh Sandhu, SHO, Kharar Sadar police station, the accused had been booked under Sections 306 and 120B of the IPC.
“The victim was running an IELTS coaching centre. She had come in contact with Kakkar, who runs an immigration consultancy service in Chandigarh. On his insistence, the victim started sending her students for visas to Kakkar,” said the cop.
He added that Rajinder Kaur sent two of her students to Kakkar for visa purposes. “The students neither got visa nor their money back. One of the students in question was the daughter of a policeman. As the parents of the students exerted pressure on the victim, she allegedly committed suicide,” said the police.
It is to be noted that Chandigarh Police had also slapped immigration fraud cases against Kakkar earlier.
“No arrest has been made in the case so far”, said the police.
