The Chandigarh Police has arrested a house maid for allegedly stealing cash and gold coins from a house in Sector 9.
The police said a case has been registered against the maid, identified as Sarabjeet Kaur, for allegedly stealing Rs 1.33 lakh and two gold coins from the complainant’s house by using duplicate keys on February 25.
The accused has been booked under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in the possession of master) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector 3 police station.
Two held for robbery on PU campus
The Chandigarh Police arrested two youths while two juveniles were apprehended for allegedly kidnapping and robbing on the PU south campus in Sector 25.
The police said the complainant, Aakarshit, had alleged that he was robbed of his two mobile phones, purse and sunglasses near UIET Block of the PU on February 29. The complainant had come to meet one of his friend who stays in the boys hostel on the south campus of the PU.
A case was registered at the Sector 11 police station and an investigation was initiated. Later, the accused, identified as Sagar and Anil, both residents of Sector 25, were arrested and two juvenile were apprehended. The juveniles have been sent to the juvenile home. The matter is under investigation.
Theft at Dhanas
A theft at a house was reported in Dhanas on the night intervening February 28 and 29.
The police said Kalu, a resident of EWS colony, Dhanas, reported that someone had stolen silver ornaments and Rs 12,000 from his house.
A case of theft against unknown persons has been registered at the Sarangpur police station.
