Mohali police arrest proclaimed offender

The Mohali police have arrested a notorious ‘wanted’ criminal and a proclaimed offender, who has been residing at Zirakpur using fake identity.
The accused, identified as Iqbal Singh (28), an MBA qualified from PTU, Jalandhar, has been arrested from a house at Zirakpur and a country made .315 bore pistol, ammunition and a i-20 car (HH03M-3913) has been recovered from him.
Giving details, Mohali SSP GS Bhullar said the accused had been wanted in a murder case along with two attempt-to-murder cases in Moga district. Apart from that he was involved in several brawl cases.
“He has been residing under a fake identity of Pritpal Singh at Dhakauli, Zirakpur, and was involved in drug peddling. A case in this regard has been registered under the NDPS Act and Arms Act at Zirakpur Police Station,” the SSP said. The accused had also secured a bail in the case.
The SSP added that Iqbal had made his fake driving license and a PAN card with a fake name of Pritpal Singh from Jagraon. “Then using the fake PAN number, he made his fake Aadhaar Card,” the SSP said.
“We are investigating how he procured the fake documents and who were the persons involved in it. We are also looking for the persons, who had helped him in procuring bail in the Zirakpur case,” the SSP said.
A fresh case under Sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468 and 474 of the IPC has been registered at Kharar Police Station.
