Nabha jailbreak mastermind Gurpreet Sekhon, 3 aides held in Moga

The mastermind of Nabha jailbreak incident, gangster Gurpreet Singh Sekhon and three of his associates were arrested by police after a brief encounter at Dhudike village in Moga district on Sunday.

The operation was carried out by a special team of the Patiala police with the assistance of their Moga counterparts.
Confirming the arrests, Gurpreet Chauhan, in-charge of the counter-intelligence team, told The Tribune that apart from Gurpreet Sekhon, his associates Manveer Singh Sekhon alias Mani Sekhon, Rajwinder Singh Raja alias Sultan of Mangewala village (Moga) and Kulwinder Singh alias Dhimbri, a resident of Sidana village, have been arrested.
A team under his supervision raided a hideout of these gangsters at Dhudike village on Sunday and arrested them after a brief encounter, Chauhan said.
The whole area was cordoned off by the Moga police before the encounter. No casualty or injury was reported in the operation from any side, the officials claimed.
The police operation lasted for more than two hours. The special team of the Patiala police along with the sleuths of the counter-intelligence entered the village in plainclothes followed by another team in the second ring to assist them in case of any emergency.
On November 27, 2016, six prisoners — terrorists Harminder Singh alias Mintoo, and Kashmir Singh, and four gangsters Harjinder Bhullar, alias Vicky Gounder; Kulpreet Singh, alias Neeta Deol; Gurpreet Singh Sekhon and Amanpreet Tonda — escaped from the Nabha’s Maximum Security Jail with help of 14 men. While Mintoo was held within 24 hours of the jailbreak, Neeta was arrested from Madhya Pradesh on January 17.
