Chandigarh, May 11
The bodies of newly born twin girls were found dumped in a garbage bin near the EWS flats at Dadu Majra Colony today. The bodies were spotted by a Class IV employee, who was cleaning the bin.
The police said the employee saw one child wrapped in a cloth and informed the police. However, when the police reached the spot, they found two bodies in the bin.
Both girls were taken to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where doctors declared them brought dead. The bodies have been kept at the hospital mortuary.
A police official said the bodies seemed to have been dumped around two days ago. Yesterday, the safai karamcharis were on leave and no one came to clean the bins.
Inspector Ranjodh Singh, SHO of the Sector 39 police station, said they were trying to establish who dumped the bodies. “We will contact local hospitals to find out who gave birth to twin girls during the past few days,” he said.
