He reportedly told the police that Gurnam Singh committted the crime after Narinder Kaur refused to divorce him. The 34-year-old victim was his second wife. She had two sons. She belonged to Saharanpur in UP. Gurnam Singh married her in 2011 because his first wife could not bear children.

The deceased’s father, Gurdev, said his daughter Narinder, her husband Gurnam and his first wife Satinder were on a visit to India and were residing in a house in Banga. “After my daughter gave birth to two children, her husband started pestering her for divorce, saying he would take the kids with him to the UK. But my daughter refused to succumb to pressure,” he said.

He said his Narinder, Gurnam Singh, his first wife and children were to return to England on January 27, but they left Banga on January 16. When he learnt hat his daughter had not reached the UK, he informed the police. The latter traced the driver who had taken the family to the Delhi airport. He told the police that Narinder didn’t accompany the family.

The DSP, Banga, Sarabjit Singh, said the vehicle (Scorpio) used to carry the body parts to the well had been impounded.
