The police have booked an NRI woman and her father for duping a person on the pretext of marriage. The accused were identified as Anita Kumari and Tarsem Lal, both residents of Canada. Paramjeet Singh, a resident of Khedi village, stated in his complaint that the accused woman took Rs 25 lakh from him on the pretext of marryin him and taking him abroad. They registered the marriage in May 2010. After marriage when Paramjeet Singh applied for visa, the Canadian embassy denied him to give visa as Anita was already married to someone in Canada. The accused took Paramjit’s passport and marriage certificate along with her to Canada. The case has registered under Section 420, 120-B of the IPC.
Flesh trade
The city police have nabbed a person for running a brothel. The accused was identified as Rajinder Singh, a resident of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar. The police raided at Rajinder Singh’s house. The cops found a woman, who was involved in flesh trade. A case has been registered under sections of Immoral Trafficking Act in this regard.
Drug peddler held
The city police have arrested a drug peddler at senior citizen Chowk on Ferozepur Road. The police recovered 6.5 kg poppy husk from his possession. The accused was identified as Paramjeet Singh, a resident of Birmi village. According to information, the cops were on patrolling duty, they found the activities of the accused suspicious. While checking police found poppy husk from his luggage. A case under the NDPS act was registered. — TNS
