The Mussoorie police today arrested the fourth accused in the alleged gangrape case of a tourist from Bengal two days ago at a resort in Kaplani on Mussoorie-Dehradun road.
The accused has been identified as Arjun and is a resident of Pandatwadi village near Nainbagh in Tehri district.
Police sources said the accused was apprehended near Batagad early this morning. Two other accused in the case, namely Anil and Mahavir, are still at large. Four teams of police personnel have conducted raids at their suspected hideouts to arrest them but in vain.
Police station in charge RS Kholia, while talking to mediapersons, said Arjun tried to flee as soon as he saw the police but was apprehended. The other two accused in the case would be caught soon, he added.
The tourist from Bengal had alleged that she was gang-raped by six men a couple of days ago. Four accused have been arrested, including two Home Guard jawans, while two are yet to be apprehended, the police said.
