Sangrur, February 27
About six-seven armed robbers reportedly looted lakhs of rupees from Dera Kuti Sahib at Gharachon village, near Bhawanigarh, last night.
The accused allegedly thrashed the dera head Mohan Dass and two other persons, Gaama Dass and Rambir before fleeing with a cash box. Mohan Dass was admitted to the Civil Hospital from where he was referred to Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala.
Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur, and a number of senior police officers visited the spot. The police have formed teams to nab the accused.
Gurpeet Singh Dhindsa, DSP, Sangrur, said investigations were on in the case. He said the robber had taken away around Rs 1.5 lakh from the dera. A case against unknown persons under Sections 458, 380, 148, 149 of the IPC and Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act has been registered.
