Suman Kaushal, a social worker-cum-member of the state Women Welfare Board, allegedly committed suicide with her daughter Akshita yesterday at her parent’s house in Nadaun.
The women had left a suicide note mentioning the reason behind committing suicide. Sources revealed that Suman had alleged that Summy Thakur of Rasuhi village of Dehra subdivision of Kangra district was making threatening calls and forcing her daughter for marriage.
The deceased had also mentioned about her business partner Naveen Sood for framing number of cases against her. It is pertinent to mention that her daughter was to get compensatory government job as her husband Manmohan Sharma had died during government service, who was working as a Junior Engineer in the Rural Development Department.
She was living here to complete her daughter’s education who was a B Com fourth semester student at Government Degree College at Nadaun.
In her suicide note, Suman had given her all property rights to her nephew Adarsh Sharma and had categorically mentioned that no one from her in-laws or parent’s family be questioned about her suicide.
The police have recovered the suicide note and arrested Surjeet alias Summy Thakur yesterday evening. He was produced before the court today where he was sent to police remand for five days till September 14.
The police have not conducted inquiry about Suman’s business partner Naveen, whose name was also mentioned in the suicide note. The postmortem was conducted yesterday and the body of both the deceased had been handed over to the family members.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Lalman Sharma said Naveen was yet to be questioned.
