The police claimed to have arrested Ramandeep Singh, alias Rami, the main accused in Sukha Kahlon murder case, and two associates with two .30 pistols, one .12 bore double barrel and nine live rounds at Heerewala village, here today.
Paramraj Singh Umranangal, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bathinda Zone, said Rami’s associates were Jugraj Singh of Bheme Kalan village and Amarinder Singh of Jawaharke village.
He said the Mansa Sadar police station team along with CIA staff after receiving a tip-off, set up a naka at Heerewala village. He said occupants in two cars started firing at the police personnel around 3 am. While one of the cars escaped, the other car bearing registration number PB 13 R 0067 was trapped. Ramandeep and his associates were aboard the car. On September 5, 2012, Rami and his associate Gurvinder Singh shot Simranjit Mann in broad daylight at Dasmesh Gun House at Mehna Chowk. In 2013, Rami got bail as the kotwali police failed to present a challan in court on time.
