Thieves strike at 3 flats in Zirakpur

Thieves struck at three flats in Savitri Enclave Society here and decamped with jewellery and other valuables amounting to Rs 1 lakh.

According to sources, flat owners were away when the miscreants targeted their houses. The incident came to light when they returned home and found the locks broken.

Bharat Singh, owner of flat number 360 of Savitri Enclave, in a statement given to the police alleged that he had gone to Kaithal, along with his family, on Saturday. When he returned home on Monday, he found the locks of his flat broken and things were scattered here and there. Following this, he lodged a complaint at the Zirakpur police station.

Bharat alleged that the thieves also targeted flat numbers 357 and 359 of Savitri Enclave. Both owners of the flats were not here.

It has been learnt that the modus operandi adopted by the accused to enter all flats was similar. The police reached the spot and investigations are in progress.

Theft at house in Shivalik Vihar

Similarly, some thieves broke into a house of Shivalik Vihar and decamped with cash, gold ornaments and some other valuables.

As per the information, there was no one present at the house when the theft took place. The sources said the house owner, along with other family members, had gone to a relative’s place. The incident came to light when the owner of the house returned around 4.30 am.

The family members were shocked to see the locks broken and valuables missing from the house.

The house owner, Mahavir, informed the police about the theft. Following this, the team reached the spot and began an investigation.

Theft at shop

Sukhwinder Kaur, owner of an outlet, “Best Deal”, in Shivalik Vihar, alleged that some women made her husband smell intoxicant following which he fell unconscious. Later, they took away ladies suits worth lakhs of rupees from the shop.

In her statement to the police, Sukhwinder Kaur said when she returned to the shop in the evening, she found her husband lying in a semi-conscious state. She found that some unstitched suits were missing. The police are investigating the matter.
