Haridwar, February 15
The Uttarakhand police today arrested three persons allegedly involved in a bid to break open an ATM on the intervening night of February 13 and 14 at Pherupur village. They were arrested during a police checking near the Ravidas Temple in Pherupur.
The arrested persons have been identified as Avesh and Sonu, both resident of Gisshapura in Pathri, and Intezar, a resident of Bijnore district in Uttar Pradesh.
Two country-made revolvers, four cartridges and some equipment like screw drivers and hammers were seized from them.
SSP, Haridwar, Sweety Aggarwal said the accused had confessed to their involvement in the ATM theft at Pherupur. “They had carried out a recce of the ATM area before committing the crime. After entering the kiosk, they covered the CCTV camera and unsuccessfully tried for more than half an hour to break open the ATM,” said the SSP.
An investigating team was formed under Kankhal Circle Officer Manisha Joshi to nab the accused.
The SSP announced a cash prize of Rs 2,500 for the police team comprising of SHO Amarjeet Singh, sub-inspectors Manohar Singh and Mahendra Singh Rana, head constables Pushkar Singh, Sunil Rawat, Mahendra Yadav, Arvind Gill, Anand, Sanju, Dharmendra and Sachin.
