Two months on, no headway in financier’s murder case

The Jagraon police have failed to unravel the mystery behind the murder of Mullanpur Dakha-based financier Jugraj Singh, who was shot by unidentified persons near Gorsian Makhan village in the Sidhwan Bet in March. The police investigation has made little progress in the case so far.

Jugraj, a resident of Dhothar village, near Jagraon, used to run a finance company at Mullanpur Dakha.

He was killed by some unidentified assailants while he was cycling on the morning of March 9. Jugraj was shot twice in the abdominal and he died on the spot.

The police had registered a murder case against unidentified persons at the Sidhwan Bet police station. The police have been working on different theories. Apart from other aspects, the investigators have also been looking into the financial dealings of the finance company run by Jugraj.

The police had also obtained footage from a CCTV camera installed outside a nearby Cooperative Society building as well as some other CCTV cameras installed close to the crime scene. But the police did not find any clue about the killers.

According to sources, the police had also rounded up some suspects for questioning but nothing concrete came out. They were released later on.

The Sidhwan Bet SHO, Inspector Balwant Singh. said the investigators had received some significant information related to the case. “The financier was killed under a planned manner as the killers were well aware of the daily routine of Jugraj Singh. They knew that Jugraj Singh regularly went out for cycling in the morning, so they decided to target him in the morning.

With the help of clues the police have obtained so far, we hope to crack this case very soon,” claimed Balwant.
