The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated its 78th Raising Day on its Hallo Majra campus here today. VK Kaundal, Deputy Inspector General, Chandigarh, took the salute at the Quarter Guard and spoke about the importance and history of the day.
While addressing officers and jawans of the force, he said that the CRPF, earlier known as Crown Representative Police, was established on July 27, 1939 at Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh. After independence, it became Central Reserve Police Force. The force has now grown into world's largest paramilitary force having 240 battalions, including five Mahila battalions.
On this occasion, Director General's Disc and Antrik Suraksha Padak also presented to personnel for their performance in operational and administrative fields. A football match was organised followed by a high tea with retired officers residing in the tricity. A cultural programme followed by a badakhana was also organised jointly by the 51 Battalion and the 5th Signals Battalion.
