Chandigarh, June 6
Unsatisfied with facts which Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officials presented before the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) for delaying the declaration of St Kabir Public School’s Class X results, the commission again summoned them on June 8 to submit a detailed report on the issue.
The commission during the hearing, chaired by chairperson Devi Sirohi, today sought explanation from the school and CBSE officials who were present on behalf of the CBSE regional officer, asking what was the main reason of the delay.
Sirohi said the school management and CBSE officials presented their case in which it was found that the school had sent all documents to the CBSE on time but because of the lackadaisical attitude of the CBSE officials, the result got delayed. The commission found it strange that the CBSE had put a notice of result of the school late and sent a 10-point questionnaire to inquire whether they had followed these procedures or not.
During the hearing, the question was raised as to why the school was not informed earlier about it and whether the CBSE had adopted the same procedure of asking questions from other schools of the city also.
The chairperson found that the CBSE officials did not respond to the queries of the commission properly and justified the delay so they were asked again to substantiate their reply and submit it to the commission during the next hearing.
The CBSE Class X results of St Kabir Public School was held back allegedly due to the late submission of internal marks of those who appeared for the exams. On June 3, 2016, after the CCPCR intervened in the case and summoned the CBSE, school and the complainant, the result was declared by the evening. But the commission summoned the CBSE, school and complainant to know the reason of the delay.
