A man has been arrested for allegedly murdering a 15-year-old boy in Mangolpuri, outer Delhi, over a suspicion that the victim was a police informer.
The man who was arrested by the police on Saturday has been identified as Jitender. Jitender and his associates had allegedly carried the victim's body on a motorcycle for a few kilometres to safely dump it in a drain. They, however, had to abandon it outside the drain after it fell down from the motorcycle.
The main accused in the case, Aman (22), was released from the jail on bail in a theft case on April 9. On the same day he allegedly met three of his associates and told them that the victim, Vipin Kumar Pandey, had informed the police about him, which led to him being jailed.
The four allegedly hatched a plan to murder Pandey. On April 10, they abducted him and brought him to a park in Mangolpuri where they beat him. Aman then allegedly stabbed Pandey in his abdomen, immediately causing his death.
The accused then decided to carry Pandey's body a few kilometres away to Ganda Nala in Vijay Vihar and dump it in the drain there. "Aman and one of his associates sandwiched the body between them on the motorcycle and rode to Vijay Vihar. But as they were approaching the drain, their hurried approach led to the body falling off the motorcycle," said a police officer.
The two accused abandoned the body there and escaped as they sensed some people approaching. The police received a call around the same time about a body lying at the spot. It was unidentified for two days before Pandey's father identified the body soon after he filed a missing complaint on April 12.
