The Revenue Department here today issued 851 notices to vehicle owners for violating permit conditions, including overloading, route violations, unauthorised parking and other violations.
In addition, 295 challans were issued by the traffic police personnel, assisting the Revenue Department officials in the drive, against the violators.
By the end of the day, more than 3,000 vehicles of various categories, including auto rickshaws, tempos, e-rickshaws and buses, were inspected, an official said.
The drive aimed at making Delhi roads safe and driving more disciplined was carried out at more than 100 locations across the city.
Many young volunteers from the civil society supported the drive.
The drive covered violation of permit conditions by commercial vehicles, which include violations of permit route, overloading, unauthorised parking, wrong side driving, etc…, said the official.
To augment its enforcement capability, the Transport Department had recently delegated powers of suspension of permits of commercial vehicles for violations under the Motor Vehicles Act section 66/192 to the Magistrates of the Revenue Department.
In the first such drive conducted on November 21, 660 vehicles had been put on notice.
Since then, final orders have been passed in many of these cases and a number of permits have been suspended and vehicles impounded.
