Army officer''s body found on railway track
An Indian Army officer's body has been found on a railway track at the New Delhi railway station on Tuesday. The body of the officer, identified as Lieutenant Diwakar Puri (26), was found cut into two parts, said the police, adding that Puri was from the Army Medical Corps and a resident of Delhi. Man gets 10 years in jail for raping 6-year-old girl
A Delhi court has sentenced a 28-year-old man to 10 years in jail for kidnapping and raping a six-year-old girl in 2013, observing that the "cruel" society would not let her forget the incident and she would never be able to erase from her psyche the memories of the sexual assault. Special Judge Seema Maini convicted the man under Section 6 (committing aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, and Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code. Traffic snarls due to kanwariya movement
The Capital witnessed traffic snarls on major thoroughfares on Tuesday morning due to the movement of kanwariyas. According to a senior traffic police officer, roads near Kalindi Kunj and the highway to Gurgaon were the most affected. Earlier on Sunday, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory to ensure smooth movement of 'kanwariyas' on the pilgrimage route. PTI
Safdarjung doctor found dead in flat
A 30-year-old resident doctor of Safdarjung Hospital here was found dead on Tuesday morning in his room at a rented accommodation in South-east Delhi's Lajpat Nagar area, said the police. The deceased has been identified as Sudhanshu, they said. PTI
