New Delhi, April 1
Though the second 15-day trial of odd-even vehicles is to start from April 15, Transport Minister Gopal Rai today asked the DTC authorities for a hundred per cent presence of all the staff members while fixing responsibility for maintenance of buses on regional managers in each depot.
He asked the DTC officers to have a meeting with private tourist and carriage bus owners to deploy the vehicles in Delhi during the odd-even trial. The buses of private schools will not be deployed for carrying commuters. During the first odd-even trial, private school had not cooperated with the government.
Addressing a meeting of the DTC officers, the minister said that private bus owners would be paid on the basis of kilometre. They have to inform how many kilometres they have covered and then produce a receipt for the payment. In private buses, 55 per cent seats will be reserved for the women.
The government will hire 500 marshals. They will be deployed in each bus so that commuters do not face any difficulty. DTC officials will be deployed at each bus stop to inform commuters that private buses are being run on regular routes.
