New Delhi, December 19
Aimed at strengthening public transport in the national Capital, the Delhi Government today gave the go-ahead to a proposal for a study on rationalisation of bus routes and last mile connectivity.
The cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, approved the proposed study by the Delhi Integrated Multi Modal System (DIMTS) on route rationalisation and last mile connectivity, a senior government official said.
The study, to be completed in six months, will cover all routes used by buses of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), cluster scheme, gramin sewa, Delhi Metro feeder services, chartered buses, among others.
“The study will take into account the routes and volume and density of commuters and will solve the problems of low frequency, inadequate coverage and crowding, leading to better efficiency of the transport system and increased customer satisfaction,” said the official.
The study will involve detailed household travel survey, added the official.
The DIMTS also plans to conduct work place survey at Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram and Bahadurgarh.
