CBI conducts raids on Kendriya Bhandar outlets

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a surprise check at the head office of the Kendriya Bhandar in New Delhi yesterday, following reports of irregularities in purchases made by the consumer cooperative society.
“There are irregularities in purchases made by the Kendriya Bhandar in violation of the purchase policy, rules of the General Financial Rules and CVC (Central Vigilance Commission) guidelines and the due tender process was not followed. Therefore, the CBI conducted a surprise check at the head office of the Kendriya Bhandar at Pushpa Bhawan, Madangir Road in New Delhi. Documents have also been collected,” said R K Gaur, Press Information Officer, CBI.
The CBI has also conducted checks at its three outlets at Pragati Vihar, Sarojini Nagar and Laxmi Bai Nagar. “Samples of masala items, alleged to have been substandard, have been collected, apart from certain relevant documents,” said Gaur.
