CISF jawans at IGIA back in uniform

From now on the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), Delhi, will not be deployed in corporate look like wearing a suite. It has been decided that 

in airport security the CISF personnel posted will remain in uniform only, according to a senior CISF officer.

The decision was taken after a trial run by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at the IGI airport. According to a senior CISF officer, “Uniform is the identity of the department and people have more faith in men in uniform. A feeling of strong safety comes in people seeing the men in uniform.”

It is to be noted that in February last year a month trial was conducted by the CRPF at IGI Airport by deploying jawans in formals like SPG men. Under the trial the jawans deployed on the gates of the terminal building were instructed to wear black coats and pants. Along with putting tie was compulsory. 

In summers, summer coats or safari suits were provided to the personnel. And further, it was to be enforced in all the airports of the country.

During the trial period many passengers admired the step to great extent, but many also said that they found CISF men in uniform far better.

Many shortcomings were also witnessed during safety amongst the passengers because of the deployment of the CRPF jawans in suits and boots. As some passengers considered them private employees and were not following their instructions properly.

And moreover, the credibility of the identity of the force was affected as well. Therefore, viewing the trial result the force withdrew the scheme, according to the officer.
