The Punjab Minister of Tourism and Culture, Navjot Singh Sidhu in a road show at Khayala Village in support of the Congress candidate, Meenakshi Chandela, in the Rajouri Garden Assembly by-election stole the spotlight with his hard-hitting speech laced with humour and sarcasm.
In an open jeep, Sidhu, who was accompanied by DPCC president, Ajay Maken, former MLA Dayanand Chandela and former MP Mahabal Mishra, asserted that Meenakshi was on a strong wicket, and no force with the might of money power can defeat her.
Sidhu said Meenkashi, who was also standing in the same jeep, had always been at the service of the local people. On the contrary the BJP-SAD candidate has no feelings for serving people. He is spending money of drug mafia in the election. He does not believe in development.
The Congress is like a scale of honesty that is devoted to the development of the country. People are associated with the party and people's voice is like the voice of God. Meenakshi is a worker of the party and she will win the elections. It will be a victory of the true religion, he said.
Sidhu, who reached Khayala to join the road show two hours late, said that the illegal money earned by the SAD-BJP combine while in power in Punjab from the drug, transport and the cable mafia, was being used in the by-election as their “chela” is fighting.
He said voters have understood the corrupt ways of these forces, and seen through their game-plans. They would only vote for the Congress candidate, Sidhu clamied.
