Neighbours’ phone call to women helpline (181) and the Delhi Commission for Women’s timely intervention saved two minor girls who were allegedly being raped by their father in the national Capital’s Bawana area.
Police arrested the accused and registered a case and the minor girls have been sent to a shelter home, said the Commission.
The accused assaulted his wife and dragged two daughters into a room as the victims’ neighbours called on Women Helpline.
The DCW’s mobile helpline team immediately alerted the police and a counsellor of the helpline programme reached the spot.
The counsellor interacted with the girls, who then informed the counsellor that their father raped the elder daughter (17) a year ago and the younger 14-year-old daughter on Diwali.
