Delhi Police launches two emergency helplines

NEW DELHI:The Delhi Police launched two 24x7 helpline numbers 155270 and 155271 as a precautionary measure to curb noise pollution and incidents of mob lynching in the national capital.

The Delhi Police launched two 24x7 helpline numbers 155270 and 155271 as a precautionary measure to curb noise pollution and incidents of mob lynching in the national capital. These emergency helpline numbers will be operated by the Police Control Room.

The first helpline number 155270 is available for receiving calls related to any incident of mob lynching or violence. Any person aggrieved or a witness can report any such incident to this 24x7 helpline number, said a senior police official.

This helpline number has been introduced in compliance with the directions of the Apex Court that a response system may be introduced to deal with such acts and to prevent the instances of loss of life and public as well as private properties during incidents of mob violence, he said.

The second helpline number 155271 has been launched to curb the noise pollution in the national capital. Noise pollution or sound pollution is a menace which effects physical as well as psychological health of an individual, the official said.

In order to provide relief from noise pollution, this new helpline number has been introduced, so that public can lodge complaints of sound pollution like DJ's, loud speakers, public address system, sound amplifiers, generators of 5 KV or more, construction equipment like marble-cutting machine operating between 10 pm and 6 am, he said.
