The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) celebrated its 21st Foundation Day today with annual awards being presented to 43 deserving employees for their outstanding contribution to the Metro along with three special prizes.
The Central Secretariat Metro station was adjudged the 'Best Metro Station' and Mahesh Kumar received the Metro Person of the year award. The Metro Woman of the Year Award, was given to Renu Dhillon apart from awards being given to 41 other employees from various departments for their meritorious performance.
On the occasion, DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh outlining the major achievements of the preceding year said, "The scale of activity in the present phase of Metro construction in the NCR has been enormous to say the very least. On the operational front additional statistics are now being taken not only for peak hour traffic but peak of peak hour traffic owing to the ever increasing ridership."
Adding that efforts are also being made to emphasise indigenisation of the technologies involved in Metro operations in sync with the 'Make in India' campaign of the Government of India, he said that over 90 percent of the Rolling Stock procured by DMRC had been manufactured in India thanks to the indigenization efforts made by DMRC.
Chairman, DMRC and Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development Madhusudan Prasad, presented the awards in the presence of Additional Secretary, UD, D. S. Mishra.
