New Delhi, April 9
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh (GK) today threatened the government against any damage to the martyr place of Guru Teg Bahadur, and said the government would have to face the consequences if damage was done.
Addressing Sikhs gathered at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib for “ardas” Manjit Singh GK advised the government that it should not do discrimination with the Sikh community. He also told the Sikh community that protection of community was more important than politics.
He said having faith in the Constitution, the Sikh community had been fighting the case of 1984 riots in which about 12,000 Sikhs in the country and 5,000 in Delhi were killed after assassination of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
“Thirty two years have been passed, but not a single accused has been punished. Sikhs can tolerate everything, but they cannot tolerate if their religious places are attacked,” he said.
