A major accident was averted after a bus of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector-24 in Noida, caught fire near Akshardham Temple, East Delhi, in the noon. The bus, according to the police, was carrying 28 students and teachers. The bus was coming after attending a school competition from KG Marg.

The accident occurred near the Akshardham Metro Station where suddenly the bus caught fire. But luckily in a quick interval the fire was doused by Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officials and the children and teachers were safely evacuated.

According to a police official, the driver of the bus showed courage and evacuated all the children with teachers with the help of people. The children were terrified. If the driver and the teachers would have not acted promptly, it would have been a major accident.

DCP (North East) Om Veer Singh said the reason of fire is still unknown and investigation is on regarding the incident and all the students were evacuated safely to another bus.
