New Delhi, February 17
A 23-year-old woman and her lover allegedly beat her husband to death with a baseball bat, placed his body in a car and later dumped it in a drain in south-west Delhi's Najafgarh area, police said.
The victim, Aman Das (25), had gone missing on February 6. His body was found in the drain on February 12. The woman, Charu and her alleged lover, Anurag Mehra, were arrested from different areas of Delhi on Monday.
Aman married Charu in 2011. He worked as a civil engineer with a construction company in south-west Delhi's Dwarka. They were staying at a rented house in Najafgarh. According to the police, Charu was allegedly having an affair with Anurag, a resident of north Delhi's Burari area.
On February 6, Charu went to the Dwarka North police station and reported that Aman had not returned home from office. His mobile phone was also found switched off. A missing complaint was filed and the body was recovered from a drain in Najafgarh. The body was identified by Charu.
The police questioned Charu and her parents. Investigators learnt that Aman and Charu would often have arguments. "The call data records of Charu's mobile phone revealed that she was in regular contact with Anurag Mehra," said a police officer.
The police suspected Charu's hand in the murder and detained her. She broke down and allegedly confessed to having killed Aman with the help of Anurag.
