New Delhi, February 14

Several police teams were formed and local inquires revealed that the shop was locked from outside since afternoon. From inspection of the scene of crime, the statements given by the persons who first entered the premises after breaking the lock, it became obvious that brutal murders were the handiwork of some insider.

The teams worked on different leads and focused on the employees of the deceased persons Deepak, Sonu and Maqsood.

Deepak was apprehended first and interrogated at length. He informed that it was Rajender Pal Mistry identified as Sonu, who sent him and Maqsood out to fetch tea and pakora and when he came back, he found the gate of the shop locked from outside.

During sustained interrogation and confrontation with other workers, it was revealed that Sonu had deliberately sent out the other two co-workers. Upon being confronted with facts and detailed questioning, Rajender Pal broke down and confessed to have murdered both of them.

In order to commit this crime, he purchased an iron chopper and concealed them on the 2nd floor of the shop a few days ago. On the day of crime, he consumed alcohol, switched off all lights except one, kept the chopper concealed in his jacket and called his employer Rajkumar Manchanda. As Manchanda was standing in the dark, he slit his neck with the chopper. Then he called, Devender Manchanda mentioning therein that 'chote malik' was calling him. Finding an opportunity, the accused slit his neck too with the same weapon, said DCP Jatin Narwal, North District.
