New Delhi, June 26

Delhi's Environment Minister Imran Hussain said that NBCC had violated NGT order by cutting trees in the seven south Delhi colonies that were being redeveloped.

Hussain wrote to Union Ministers Harsh Vardhan and Hardeep Singh Puri stating the NGT order that “the plants shall be planted as a condition precedent to the cutting of trees. However, the project user agency apparently started cutting trees without complying with the direction of the NGT.” The agency has also violated conditions prescribed in the clearance given by Delhi’s Forest Department. — TNS
