Notorious criminal arrested

The Crime Branch has arrested a notorious criminal Lalit, 20, of Madanpur Khadar. He was previously involved in several cases of theft, robbery and dacoity, including a case of robbery of service pistol from an armed force person. The assailants were unknown to the victim and the case was a blind one, said the police.

Recently Kuldeep Sehrawat, resident of Chirag Delhi, went to pick up his daughter from school bus near Chirag Delhi drain. When he was going back with his daughter, two young boys aged about 22-25 years came from behind and one of them fired at him with his weapon.

He had a narrow escape and the bullet passed after injuring him near his neck. He grappled with the boy and managed to pin him down to the ground, but both the boys managed to escape from the spot. A case of attempt to murder and Arms Act was registered at Malviya Nagar police station.

The team of ISC, Crime Branch, also visited the spot as the victim was clueless about the identity of the assailants. The team consolidated efforts, got information on January 31 that one of the assailants Lalit, who was previously involved in robbery of pistol from an armed force person would come near Dear Park Corner, Bhikaiji Cama Road.

On this information, a police team was constituted to nab him. On the basis of information, a trap was laid near the place of information and accused Lalit was apprehended after a brief scuffle.
