Sharmistha takes charge as state mahila Cong chief

NEW DELHI:Sharmistha Mukherjee, who was elevated to the post of Delhi Mahila Congress, today formally took charge of her office in presence of DPCC president Ajay Maken and former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

New Delhi, January 12

Sharmistha Mukherjee, who was elevated to the post of Delhi Mahila Congress, today formally took charge of her office in presence of DPCC president Ajay Maken and former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Addressing the party workers, which included a large number of Mahila Congress workers, Maken said Sharmistha Mukherjee hails from a family which has been faithfully serving the Congress party for the past many decades. The Congress party has always worked for the empowerment of women.

He said Sharmistha Mukherjee has been serving the Delhi Congress for the past three years, and has done a commendable job.

Maken said he was confident that she would strengthen the Mahila Congress at the grass-root level, and will fight for the protection of women’s rights.
