Doda lecturer suspended over molestation allegations

Mohammed Sharif, chief education officer, Doda, has suspended a lecturer and initiated an inquiry against him over alleged molestation allegations.

“A video of an Urdu lecturer at Higher Secondary School, Ghat, being thrashed by youths for allegedly molesting a girl has gone viral on social media. We have initiated a departmental inquiry into the incident,” he said.

“We have placed the lecturer under suspension till the inquiry is pending. Stringent action will be taken against him if he is found guilty,” the officer said.

The lecturer has been identified as Bishan Singh of Paryot, Doda. Iftiqar Qurashi, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Headquarters, Doda, said, “We have not received any complaint yet. As far as the video is concerned, we have to check its authenticity first.” — OC
