Lok Insaaf Party chief-cum-MLA Simarjit Singh Bains on Saturday said their agitation will continue to end drug nuisance in the state. Bains along with his supporters commenced a rally from the Dana Mandi, Ludhiana, to Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, as a mark of protest.

Bains had earlier launched “Nashe Khilaaf Punjab” campaign under the slogan of “Na Maro, Sangarash Karo”. As the week against “Chitta” ended on Saturday, he said their agitation will continue in future as well.

Bains said dope test is not the solution to curb “Chitta” which has killed many youngsters in the state. He said cops, who are allegedly involved in drug nexus are being spared and demanded that DGP Suresh Arora must be transferred.

“We create awareness among people to come out of houses as a mark of protest against drugs. The campaign has started not finished. Our aim is to make Punjab drugs free. The government is afraid of this mass campaign against drug menace. The dope test is not a solution to drugs problem. Our agitation is against ‘Chitta’. The issue of dope test is just being raised to divert attention from the campaign against ‘Chitta’,” said Bains.

A 26-year-old Ludhiana girl, who had accused the DSP of pushing her into drugs and raping her, was also present on the occasion.
