1,500 students take part in Kala Sangam contest

The four-day long celebrations of the 39th foundation day of the Sutradhar Kala Sangam concluded here yesterday. The event was celebrated at Kala Kendra at Dhalpur.
The Vice-Chairman of the State Tourism Development Board, Vijai Singh Mankotia, was the chief guest during the closing ceremony.
Dinesh Sen, president of the Sutradhar Kala Sangam, said the organisation came into existence in 1977 to promote local culture at national and international stage.
The president said the organisation had been working as a pioneer to provide opportunity to youth to showcase their talent in various cultural activities not only in Kullu, but also outside the state.
He said around 1,500 students of 35 schools across the district participated in different competitions during the event and various artists presented cultural presentations.
He said painting and skit competitions were held amongst nine schools at Dev Sadan.
Folk dance, group dance, group song and musical instrument competitions were also conducted.
The chief guest awarded prizes to the winners of various competitions at the function.
