13,555 appear for PU CET (PG)

As many as 13,555 candidates from different parts of the country today appeared for the Combined Entrance Test (CET) of 22 postgraduate courses at Panjab University (PU).
Around 16,282 candidates appeared for various postgraduate courses at the university in the two-day CET (PG) entrance examinations. For the first time, examination centres were also setup at three PU Regional Centres at Ludhiana, Muktsar and Bajwara and S.C.D. Government College, Ludhiana.
PU Controller of Examination Prof Parvinder Singh informed that 91.05 per cent students appeared in various entrance examinations today. As many as 2,869 students out of 3,085 appeared for MSc (chemistry) (Honours/2 Year). The PU has 15 seats in MSc (chemistry), while the affiliated colleges at Chandigarh, Ludhiana and various other places in Punjab have 380 MSc (chemistry) seats. As many as 2,541 students out of 2,712 appeared for MSc (Honours) physics/physics and electronics/medical physics. The PU has 40, 20 and 8 seats in MSc (Honours) physics/ physics and electronics/medical physics, respectively.
As many as 506 out of 587 appeared for MCom (Honours), 460 out of 495 appeared for MSc (2 Year) microbial biotechnology, 50 out of 61 appeared for ME (electronics and communication engineering), 276 out of 340 appeared for MA (journalism and mass communication), 1,293 out of 1,417 appeared for MSc (botany) (Honours/2 year), 57 out of 78 appeared for MBACIT, 31 out of 37 appeared for ME (mechanical engineering) (manufacturing technology), 188 out of 224 appeared for masters in public health, 1,002 students out of 1,108 appeared for MCA, 272 out of 310 appeared for MA (geography), 1,428 out of 1,550 appeared for MSc (zoology) (Honours/2 year), 28 out of 33 appeared for (ME electrical engineering) (instrumentation and control), 97 out of 109 appeared for BPEd, 66 out of 92 appeared for MCom (BE), 98 out of 138 appeared for MSc (bioinformatics/system biology and bioinformatics) (2 year), 1,626 out of 1,764 appeared for MSc (Honours) mathematics, 623 out of 688 appeared for MSc (Honours/2 year) biotechnology, 6 out of 9 appeared for MTech (polymer), 30 out of 37 appeared for MEFB and 8 out of 13 appeared for ME (chemical with specialization in environmental engineering).
