Chandigarh, April 10
Nearly 14,000 students appeared for the JEE (Main) exam in the past two days. Today’s exam evoked a mixed response as many students claimed that the paper was tough as compared to the previous two sets. The offline exam was held on April 3 and the online exam was held yesterday, both of which were reported to be fairly easy.
“The level of difficulty in today’s paper was much higher than the previous two sets,” said Niti Baveja, a student from Chandimandir.
Another student, Shaurya, said, “Today’s paper was very difficult. It would adversely affect my score.”
Arshdeep Sachdeva, another student who appeared for the exam today, said, “Though the exam was a little difficult but overall I’m satisfied. The physics and math parts were of medium difficulty while I found the chemistry section a little tough.”
Meanwhile, Chandigarh-based JEE trainer Kunal Singh refuted students’ claims. He said the exam was relatively easy. “If one subject is difficult, the other is bound to be easy. Overall, 12 per cent of the entire paper was tough. This is how the CBSE has meant it to be. Therefore, one paper being tough than the other is out of question,” he said.
He said, “This year, the online paper was relatively easy. There are always some students who find an exam easy just as there are others who find it tough.”
The exam, conducted by the CBSE, is the first stage examination for admission to IITs, Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, along with 31 NITs, 18 IIITs and 18 GFTIs, which are participating institutes for the exam.
Top 2 lakh candidates will be eligible to appear for the JEE (Advanced), which is the second stage of the entrance test for admission to the IITs and the ISM. The IIT-JEE (Advanced) exam will be conducted by the IITs on May 22 after the JEE (Main) results are declared. — TNS
